Have been waiting forever for these to be finished so I can give them to my friend and she can give them to her boyfriend and I can finally post on Reddit. Sighhhh, girllookatthatbody.
Process:
1.) Get a pair of headphones, take them apart, sand off the protective coat on the bits you’re going to paint. I used a wet to dry extremely fine grade sandpaper. Draw on your design. Mine features a golden snitch from Harry Potter flying out of the TARDIS on one ear piece and a Reddit alien with the Radiohead symbol on the other. As you can see from the first picture, you can change the design, because I am silly and was doing the text backwards and spelled narwhal wrong, and then removed the phrase entirely.
2.) Paint them. The headband on this one features the Seinfeld logo. These are things I was requested to put on them.
3.) I then bought a clear acrylic aerosol from a mechanics store. The product is used as a clear coat for the body work on cars and it WILL magnify scratches and brushstrokes, so take that into consideration. Not very expensive at all, under twenty bucks. Follow the directions on whatever you use; the one I used was basically 4-6 coats, with five minutes drying time between each coat and 24 hours drying before reassembling. I ended up doing 8-10 coats, but use your judgement.
4.) Reassemble, test that you put it together correctly and it still works, collect payment, give to friend, wait for her to give to her boyfriend, post all over the internet!

Same thing again as the bob-ombs. This one isn’t finished, need to dig it out again and get it done. I remember having issues trying to work with so much white, trying to get any depth or shape.

The first one is a drop of highlighter fluid in a spirit bottle of WATER. (DO NOT DRINK.) It has a backlight behind it, which makes it look awesome.
The second one is filling a friend’s room with balloons. BALLOONS. (DO NOT EAT.) Always hilarious.
Cleaning out my camera phone, finding a lot of progress shots of my art. This is something someone asked me to paint for them and then never paid for. They’re a big Inception fan , so I painted the word “inception” in thick paint, let it dry, then painted over it, so if you hold it in just the right light, you can see it.

Changed the design of the one with the Reddit alien. Originally the radiohead symbol was on its chest, but I decided it was too small, so I split it in half and made it bigger, putting the opposite half on each side on the edge. They still need work but I’m pretty happy with the rest, just need to paint the headband piece and then seal it all with a clear coat, and voila: custom headphones.
